Accountant

The ideal candidate will oversee the financial health of various construction projects, ensuring accurate job costing, budget management, and compliance with industry-specific tax regulations. You will bridge the gap between the site operations and the corporate office.

​Key Responsibilities

​1. Project Accounting & Job Costing

​WIP Management: Track Work-in-Progress and ensure revenue recognition is aligned with the percentage of completion.

​Cost Allocation: Monitor labor, material, equipment, and sub-contractor costs against original project estimates.

​Variance Analysis: Prepare monthly reports explaining "Actual vs. Budget" variances for project managers.

​2. Accounts Payable & Sub-contractors

​Verification: Review sub-contractor invoices against work orders and site progress reports.

​Retention: Manage "Retention Money" or "Holdbacks" as per contract terms.

​Compliance: Ensure all vendors provide necessary insurance certificates and tax documentation before payment.

​3. Financial Reporting & Compliance

​Taxation: Manage GST/VAT/TDS filings and ensure compliance with construction-specific tax laws (like WCT or Labor Cess where applicable).

​Audit Support: Coordinate with external auditors for year-end reviews and project-specific audits.

​Cash Flow: Forecast project-wise cash requirements to ensure the site never stops due to lack of funds.

​4. Leadership (For Manager Level)

​Oversee a team of junior accountants or site accountants.

​Negotiate with vendors and banks for credit facilities and Bank Guarantees (BG).

​Implement and optimize Construction ERP software (e.g., Tally, SAP B1, or Procore).
