We help private equity firms, corporate acquirers, and M&A advisors discover acquisition targets faster and smarter using AI-powered semantic search, automated sector reporting, and proprietary data pipelines.

The Role

As a Python Backend Developer, you will design, build, and maintain the core backend services that power the DealSource platform. You’ll work closely with our CTO on data pipelines, API development, and the integration of AI/ML capabilities into our product. This is a hands-on engineering role with significant autonomy and room to grow.

What You’ll Do

•      Design and develop RESTful APIs and backend services using Python (FastAPI or Flask)

•      Build and maintain ETL/ELT data pipelines that ingest, transform, and enrich M&A intelligence data

•      Work with PostgreSQL (including pgvector for embeddings) as the core data store

•      Integrate AI/ML services (e.g., Claude API, OpenAI, vector search) into the platform

•      Write clean, tested, well-documented code and participate in code reviews

•      Collaborate on system architecture decisions and contribute to technical roadmap planning

•      Automate infrastructure tasks and improve CI/CD workflows

•      Help build and refine automated sector report generation pipelines

What We’re Looking For

Must-Have

•      1–4 years of professional experience with Python backend development

•      Solid understanding of SQL and relational databases (PostgreSQL strongly preferred)

•      Experience building and consuming REST APIs

•      Familiarity with version control (Git) and collaborative development workflows

•      Good problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn new technologies quickly

•      Professional proficiency in English (written and spoken)

Nice-to-Have

•      Experience with FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, or Alembic

•      Familiarity with dbt or modern data stack tools

•      Exposure to vector databases, embeddings, or semantic search (pgvector, FAISS)

•      Experience with AI/LLM API integrations (Anthropic, OpenAI)

•      Knowledge of Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms (AWS preferred)

•      Understanding of data modeling and data warehouse concepts

•      Experience with web scraping or Common Crawl data

•      Familiarity with async Python (asyncio, aiohttp)
