Network Engineer

The Network Engineer(NE) who can be will provide support and expertise to maintain and optimize network infrastructure across multi-vendor environments. They handle escalated issues from other support teams, perform network upgrades, and assist in deploying and integrating network solutions as part of overall IT systems.  

Key Responsibilities:

• Configure and optimize network devices including VLANs, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP), and security policies.
• Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot LAN/WAN networks, switches, routers, firewalls, and VPN connections.
• Respond to escalated network incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement fixes for network outages or degradations.
• Collaborate with system integration teams and client stakeholders to support network deployment and integration projects.
• Assist in network capacity planning, performance assessments, and tuning for optimal efficiency.
• Maintain detailed network documentation, configuration records, and incident reports.
• Participate in change management processes, including patching, upgrades, and new device installations.
• Use network monitoring and diagnostic tools (like SolarWinds, Nagios, Wireshark) to pre-emptively identify and resolve network problems.
• Provide mentorship and knowledge support to other off and on field technicians and help coordinate and try resolving escalation.
• Support 24x7 operations through shift work or on-call duties if required to ensure network service availability.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience in network support or engineering roles.
• Strong proficiency with devices like Cisco, Juniper and also other enterprise networking equipment.
• Good understanding of routing and switching protocols, IP subnetting, VLANs, VPNs, routing protocols like BGP, OSPF, RIP , EIGRP etc.
• Experience working in service-oriented, client-facing environments.
• Ability to analyse network traffic and troubleshoot connectivity and performance issues.
• Relevant certifications like CCNA, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent preferred.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
