Job Title: Plate Rolling Machine Operator

Job Summary

The Plate Rolling Machine Operator is responsible for setting up and operating plate rolling machines to bend, form, and shape metal plates into cylindrical or curved components according to engineering drawings and production specifications. The role ensures accuracy, quality, and safety throughout the rolling process.

Key Responsibilities

Machine Operation

Set up and operate 3-roll or 4-roll plate rolling machines.

Adjust machine settings based on material type, thickness, and required radius.

Feed metal plates into the rolling machine and monitor the rolling process.

Perform pre-bending and final rolling to achieve required curvature.

Check finished components for dimensional accuracy and roundness.

Production & Quality Control

Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work orders.

Ensure rolled products meet specified tolerances and quality standards.

Conduct in-process inspections and measurements.

Correct rolling defects such as flat spots, uneven curves, or distortion.

Record production data and report discrepancies.

Maintenance & Equipment Care

Perform routine machine inspections and basic preventive maintenance.

Lubricate machine parts and ensure proper functioning.

Report mechanical faults or malfunctions to maintenance personnel.

Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area.

Health & Safety

Follow workplace safety procedures and guidelines.

Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Comply with safety standards such as Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations or local equivalents.

Ensure safe handling of heavy plates using cranes or lifting equipment.

Qualifications & Requirements

ITI / Trade Certificate / Diploma in Mechanical or Manufacturing field.

2–5 years of experience operating plate rolling machines.

Strong understanding of metal properties and forming techniques.

Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings.

Familiarity with quality systems such as ISO 9001 is an advantage.

Basic knowledge of crane operation is preferred.
