Job Description

Job Summary:

The Purchasing Manager will oversee the procurement of materials, equipment, and services essential for manufacturing operations. This role requires strategic sourcing, supplier management, and cost control to ensure timely availability of quality materials while optimizing expenses and maintaining strong vendor relationships.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement purchasing strategies to meet production schedules and budget targets.
  • Source, evaluate, and negotiate contracts with suppliers to secure favorable terms and conditions.
  • Monitor supplier performance and ensure compliance with quality standards and delivery timelines.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to forecast material needs and improve supply chain efficiency.
  • Analyze market trends, price fluctuations, and risks to advise management on procurement decisions.
  • Manage purchase orders, track inventory levels, and resolve supply issues proactively.
  • Lead and mentor purchasing team members to improve skills and productivity.
  • Ensure purchasing activities comply with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records and prepare reports on purchasing metrics.


Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field.
  • Proven experience (typically 3+ years) as a Purchasing Manager or Procurement Lead in manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement processes, vendor management, and contract negotiation.
  • Familiarity with ERP or procurement software systems.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Leadership and team management experience.


Preferred:

·       Certification in procurement preferred but not mandatory.

  • Experience in lean manufacturing or just-in-time (JIT) procurement practices.


Work Environment:

This role is typically based in a manufacturing facility or office with frequent interaction with suppliers, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
