Fabrication Head

Core Responsibilities

• Strategic Oversight: Develop and implement fabrication strategies, vision, and policies to align with broader business objectives and market demands.
• Production Management: Lead daily operations for the fabrication department, ensuring production schedules are met and delivery of high-quality products is on time.
• Process Optimization: Implement continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and increase profitability.
• Resource & Budget Management: Manage departmental budgets, optimize resource allocation (personnel and materials), and oversee capital expenditure for new machinery or facility improvements.
• Quality & Safety Compliance: Enforce rigorous safety standards (OSHA, EHS) and ensure all products meet technical specifications and industry codes like ASME or AWS.
• Technical Integration: Collaborate with engineering and design teams on "Design for Manufacturability" (DFM) to ensure new product designs can be efficiently fabricated. 

Required Qualifications

• Education: Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial) or a related field; senior roles often prefer a Master's degree or MBA.
• Experience: Usually requires 5 to 10+ years of experience in fabrication or manufacturing, with several years in a leadership or managerial capacity.
• Certifications: Professional certifications such as Lean Six Sigma, PMP (Project Management), or specific technical certifications like CWB welding supervision are highly valued. 

Essential Skills

• Leadership: Strong team management skills to mentor staff and foster a collaborative, high-performance culture.
• Technical Proficiency: Deep understanding of fabrication processes (CNC machining, welding, assembly), materials science, and reading complex engineering blueprints.
• System Knowledge: Experience with ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) and MRP (Material Requirements Planning) software to manage inventory and production workflows.
• Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills for negotiating with vendors and reporting performance metrics to executive leadership.
