Lathe Machine Operator

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Lathe Operator to set up, operate, and maintain a 10-foot manual or CNC lathe to produce precision metal components according to engineering drawings and specifications. The ideal candidate has strong machining skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate 10-foot lathe machines to machine metal and alloy parts
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and job orders
• Select and install appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and work-holding devices
• Perform turning, facing, boring, threading, grooving, and tapering operations
• Measure and inspect finished parts using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision tools
• Adjust machine settings to maintain tight tolerances and surface finishes
• Monitor machine operation and make real-time adjustments as needed
• Perform routine machine maintenance and cleaning
• Follow safety procedures, PPE requirements, and company policies
• Identify defects or machining issues and report them to supervisors
• Maintain accurate production and inspection records

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Proven experience operating a large-capacity (10 ft bed) lathe
• Strong knowledge of machining principles and metal properties
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings and GD&T
• Proficiency with precision measuring instruments
