Key Roles and Responsibilities of a Safety Officer

Risk Management: Perform risk assessments, identify hazards, and develop safety protocols.

Compliance: Ensure compliance with national safety codes and regulations.

Training & Documentation: Conduct employee training, maintain safety documentation, and record-keeping.

Incident Investigation: Investigate accidents, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.

Inspections: Conduct regular workplace safety inspections.

Key Roles and Responsibilities of a Safety Supervisor

On-site Enforcement: Enforce safety rules and procedures, including PPE requirements, on a daily basis.

Daily Monitoring: Perform daily spot checks on equipment, tools, and work areas to ensure safety.

Daily Briefings: Conduct Tool Box Talks (TBT) and brief workers on daily hazards.

Immediate Action: Take immediate steps to correct unsafe conditions and report them to management.

Incident Response: Provide immediate attention to injured workers and isolate the area in case of an incident.

While the safety officer plans and manages safety systems, the safety supervisor implements them on the floor. Safety officers focus on compliance, while safety supervisors focus on worker adherence.
