Maintenance Technician – Sweets ManufacturingDepartment: Engineering / Maintenance

Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor / Engineering Manager

Location: Manufacturing Plant

• Job SummaryThe Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production equipment used in the sweets or confectionery manufacturing process. This role ensures machinery operates efficiently, safely, and with minimal downtime to support continuous production

Key Responsibilities1. Equipment Maintenance

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production machines.
• Maintain equipment such as:
• 
  
• Sugar cooking kettles
• Mixers and blenders
• Depositors and forming machines
• Cooling tunnels
• Packaging machines
• Conveyors
• Lubricate, clean, and inspect machinery regularly.

2. Troubleshooting & Repairs

• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic faults.
• Repair or replace defective components such as motors, belts, bearings, sensors, and valves.
• Respond quickly to machine breakdowns to minimize production downtime.

3. Preventive Maintenance

• Follow preventive maintenance schedules.
• Record maintenance activities in maintenance logs or CMMS systems.
• Suggest improvements to improve equipment reliability.

4. Safety & Compliance

• Follow food safety and hygiene standards (GMP, HACCP).
• Ensure maintenance work does not contaminate food products.
• Use proper lockout/tagout procedures during repairs.

5. Installation & Upgrades

• Assist in installation of new machinery and equipment.
• Support production teams during machine changeovers.

6. Documentation

• Maintain maintenance records, spare parts usage, and repair reports.
• Report recurring issues to the supervisor.
• Required SkillsMechanical troubleshooting
• Basic electrical knowledge
• Pneumatic and hydraulic systems
• Knowledge of food processing machinery
• Preventive maintenance techniques
• Ability to read technical manuals and machine drawings
• QualificationsDiploma / ITI in Mechanical, Electrical, or Maintenance Engineering
• 2–5 years experience in food, confectionery, or FMCG manufacturing
• Experience with packaging and processing equipment preferred
• Working ConditionsManufacturing plant environment
• May require shift work
• Standing, lifting, and working around hot processing equipment
