Job Description for Assistant Manager – Castings - Procurement


Castings (Valve Manufacturing)


Key Responsibilities


 Possess strong knowledge of castings and related manufacturing processes.

 Negotiate and finalize pricing with suppliers for both new developments and

existing parts.

 Continuously monitor vendor performance through systematic analysis of ERP

data.

 Maintain an optimal supplier base through periodic vendor rationalization

programs.

 Track price trends in domestic and international markets and ensure purchase

prices reflect market conditions.

 Demonstrate strong knowledge of raw materials, specifications, suppliers, market

availability, and sourcing strategies.

 Apply effective negotiation skills to achieve cost and commercial advantages.

 Maintain technical knowledge of material standards such as ASTM and EN.

 Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities to achieve Year-on-Year

(YoY) material cost reduction.

 Develop new suppliers, coordinate sample/trial approvals, and transition suppliers

to operations after approval.

 Manage price escalation requests and renegotiate supplier pricing when required.

 Maintain clear documentation and approval records for all pricing decisions.

 Work as a team-oriented professional, aligning procurement activities with the

organization’s overall goals.

 Act as a liaison between suppliers, manufacturers, internal departments, and

customers.

 Prepare complete RFQ (Request for Quotation) packages in coordination with

Engineering, Planning, Quality, and Production teams.

 Handle invoice verification and payment processing for suppliers.

 Participate proactively in project meetings to support project requirements and

gather feedback.

Desired Qualification, Skills & Experience

 BE / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering

OR

Graduate with Foundry / Metallurgy experience

 7–10 years of procurement experience, preferably in a Valve Manufacturing

Company

 Strong negotiation skills

 Sound ERP system knowledge

 Excellent verbal and written communication skills

 Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

 Strong attention to detail
