Backend Developer — NestJS + PostgreSQL White Whiz Software Technologies | Chennai | Full-time | On-site

We are an early-stage startup building a consumer-facing product that solves real problems. Our team is small, the work is real, and you will have genuine ownership over what you build — not just tickets in a queue.

What You Will Do

• Design and manage PostgreSQL databases for a platform with multiple user types, roles, and workflows
• Build REST APIs using NestJS with proper validation, error handling, and access control
• Set up JWT-based login and role-based permissions that are production-ready and secure
• Keep the backend reliable with structured logging, health checks, and proper exception handling
• Write clean, strictly-typed TypeScript — no shortcuts
• Follow good Git practices — meaningful commits, clean branches, no sensitive data in the repo
• Take part in regular code reviews and contribute to team decisions

What We Are Looking For

• 2+ years of professional backend development experience
• Solid NestJS knowledge — modules, dependency injection, guards, pipes, and interceptors (not just basic Express)
• TypeScript in strict mode — you know why any is a problem and you avoid it
• PostgreSQL — you can design schemas, write migrations, and understand indexing basics
• Security awareness — input validation, CORS, and proper auth patterns
• Redis basics — caching and session management
• Clean Git habits — branching, commits, and proper .gitignore

Good to Have

Docker, Jest (unit testing), CI/CD experience.

Our Expectation

We use tools pragmatically, but you are expected to understand and own every line of code you ship. If you cannot explain what your code does and why — this role is not the right fit.

Compensation

₹3,50,000 – ₹8,00,000 per annum Paid time off and sick leave included

Notice Period

Immediate joiners preferred. Up to 30 days considered. Longer notice periods may be discussed for the right candidate.

Hiring Process

Shortlisted candidates will be called for an on-site coding assessment at our Chennai office. It will be a small NestJS + PostgreSQL problem — no internet, no AI tools, offline docs provided. After coding, you will walk us through your decisions in a short discussion.
