• Caretaker – Roles & Responsibilities

1. Personal Care AssistanceAssist the patient/elder with daily activities such as bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and feeding

• Help with mobility support including walking, transfers, and positioning
• Ensure personal hygiene and comfort at all times

2. Health Monitoring & Basic CareMonitor vital signs such as temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and sugar levels (if trained)

• Remind and assist with prescribed medications as per schedule
• Observe and report changes in health condition to the family or supervisor
• Assist with exercises or physiotherapy as advised

3. Patient Safety & SupervisionEnsure a safe and clean environment to prevent falls or injuries

• Supervise the patient continuously if required, especially in critical or elderly cases
• Follow safety protocols and emergency procedures

4. Nutrition & Meal SupportAssist in preparing simple, healthy meals as per dietary instructions

• Help with feeding and ensure proper hydration
• Follow special diet requirements prescribed by doctors

5. Housekeeping (Patient-Related Only)Maintain cleanliness of the patient’s room, bed, and surroundings

• Change bed linens and patient clothing regularly
• Wash and manage patient-related utensils and laundry

6. Emotional & Companionship SupportProvide emotional support and companionship to reduce loneliness

• Communicate respectfully and patiently with the patient and family
• Encourage positivity and mental well-being

7. Documentation & ReportingMaintain daily activity and care records

• Update family members or supervisors about the patient’s condition
• Report incidents, emergencies, or unusual observations immediately

8. Professional ConductFollow company policies, duty timings, and confidentiality norms

• Maintain professionalism, honesty, and ethical behavior
• Respect the patient’s privacy, dignity, and cultural values

9. Emergency HandlingRespond promptly during medical emergencies

• Inform family members, supervisors, or medical professionals immediately
• Provide basic first aid if trained
• Key Skills RequiredPatience, empathy, and good communication skills
• Basic medical and caregiving knowledge
• Physical stamina and alertness
• Ability to follow instructions and maintain hygiene
