Position Title: Commi Level Chef

Department: Kitchen

Reports To: Head of Department and Store Manager


Job Summary:

Commi Level Chefs are responsible for assisting higher-level chefs in various food preparation tasks and maintaining the kitchen's cleanliness and organization. This role is an essential stepping stone for individuals looking to build a career in the culinary field.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Food Preparation:
  • Assist in the preparation of ingredients, such as cutting, chopping, and measuring.
  • Follow recipes and guidelines provided by senior chefs to prepare dishes.
  • Cooking:
  • Assist in the cooking process under the supervision of senior chefs.
  • Learn and practice cooking techniques, including grilling, roasting, sautéing, and frying.
  1. Plating and Presentation:
  • Assist in the plating and presentation of dishes in an aesthetically pleasing manner.
  • Ensure portion control and proper garnishing.
  • Kitchen Maintenance:
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace by cleaning utensils, equipment, and surfaces.
  • Adhere to hygiene and safety standards while handling food.
  • Ingredient Management:
  • Receive and inspect deliveries of food items, ensuring freshness and quality.
  • Properly store ingredients and maintain a well-organized inventory.
  • Communication:
  • Collaborate with other kitchen staff to coordinate tasks and maintain a smooth workflow.
  • Communicate effectively with senior chefs to understand instructions and expectations.
  • Learning and Development:
  • Continuously learn and improve culinary skills and knowledge.
  • Seek guidance and mentorship from experienced chefs.
  • Adherence to Policies:
  • Follow kitchen policies, including sanitation, safety, and cleanliness standards.
  • Comply with health and safety regulations.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Culinary school training or relevant culinary education is a plus but not mandatory.
  • A passion for cooking and a strong desire to learn and grow in the culinary field.
  • Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
