Senior DevOps Engineer – Azure, AKS, Automation & AI Enablement

Role Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior DevOps Engineer with deep expertise in Azure infrastructure, cloud networking, and particularly Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS). The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Infrastructure‑as‑Code (IaC) using Terraform and working knowledge of Ansible for configuration management.

This role requires someone who is not only technically strong but also forward‑thinking, with a mindset to experiment with AI, adopt MCPs, and use AI-driven automation to improve speed, reliability, and developer productivity across the engineering ecosystem.

The candidate must also have proven experience building and optimizing Azure DevOps (ADO) pipelines, and familiarity with GitHub Actions is a strong plus.

Key Responsibilities

Cloud Infrastructure & AKS

• Design, deploy, and maintain Azure infrastructure including VNets, subnets, firewalls, Application Gateways, Private Links, and NSGs.
• Architect, configure, and optimize AKS clusters, including node pools, autoscaling, workload identity, networking models, and cluster governance.
• Implement secure cluster networking (CNI, Azure CNI overlay, ingress controllers).

Automation & Infrastructure-as-Code

• Build and maintain reusable IaC modules using Terraform (preferred) and Ansible.
• Ensure consistent environment provisioning across dev, QA, staging, and production.
• Implement GitOps-style workflows for deployments and infrastructure state management.

DevOps, CI/CD & Observability

• Design, build, and maintain Azure DevOps pipelines for build, deploy, test, and security automation.
• Contribute to OR lead migration or parallel adoption of GitHub Actions workflows.
• Enhance observability with tooling such as Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Prometheus/Grafana, and distributed tracing solutions.

AI-Driven Engineering & MCP Automation

• Identify opportunities to use AI agents, MCPs, and automation frameworks to accelerate deployments, detect issues earlier, or simplify operational processes.
• Create AI-based workflows and scripts for faster infrastructure debugging, document generation, or environment provisioning.
• Encourage and influence a culture of AI-first engineering experimentation.

Security, Governance & Compliance

• Implement best practices in Azure security, including workload identity, RBAC, Key Vault, managed identities, and network isolation.
• Collaborate with architecture, security, and infra teams to ensure compliance with enterprise standards.

Required Skills & Experience

Core Cloud & Kubernetes Skills

• 6–10+ years in DevOps, SRE, or cloud engineering roles.
• Strong knowledge of Azure infrastructure (networking, compute, storage, identity).
• Deep hands-on experience with AKS cluster architecture, operations, and scaling.
• Proficiency in containerization (Docker), container security, and Kubernetes networking.

Automation & IaC

• Strong experience in Terraform for multi-environment IaC.
• Working knowledge of Ansible for provisioning and configuration.
• Solid understanding of GitOps principles (Argo CD or Flux is a plus).

CI/CD & Code Repositories

• Strong experience building Azure DevOps pipelines (YAML-based preferred).
• Knowledge of GitHub Actions and workflow optimization.

Scripting & Tooling

• Proficiency in PowerShell, Bash, or Python scripting.
• Experience with Helm, Kustomize, and Kubernetes package management.

AI Mindset & Continuous Innovation

• Curiosity and drive to adopt AI/automation tools to enhance engineering velocity.
• Ability to create or integrate AI-driven workflows and MCPs.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

• Experience implementing service mesh (Istio/Linkerd).
• Exposure to Azure API Management (APIM).
• Experience with cost optimization and FinOps practices.
• Previous work with Azure Container Apps, Functions, or event-driven architecture.
• Understanding of SRE principles (SLIs, SLOs, error budgets).
