What’s the role
You will be part of Technical Asset Support organization in Shell Chennai. As an Engineer - CMMS, you'll deliver the CMMS system accurately, analyze technical data, collaborate with teams, and provide insights to improve efficiency. Set up data structures, extract information from drawings, and develop maintenance plans. Be aware of safety standards, support planning in SAP, and understand equipment life cycles. Familiarity with SAP ERP systems is beneficial. Support continuous improvement, ensure data quality, assist with audits, and work closely with senior engineers and departments.
What you’ll be doing
- Deliver S4 Migration projects across Upstream, Downstream and IG - first time right
- Support and provide guidance on function configuration in the SAP S/4HANA system as per the requirements of PM data objects.
- Develop business rules and validation of values for each field and data object.
- Manage the Project KPIs and Quality of the deliverables with regular stakeholder engagements.
- Extracting data from existing legacy systems via customized T-codes or programs built in legacy system.
- Transformation of the extracted data is altered into the format expected by SAP S/4HANA
- Re-build Asset Hierarchy from legacy system (Blueprint, GSAP, Chemical, Crystal) as per ISO 14224
- Develop automated mapping rules to adapt the extracted data to the SAP S/4HANA format
- Develop and perform data quality checks as part of data transformation
- Data cleansing by identifying the irrelevant data which not to be captured from transaction history available in legacy system.
- PM Master data & planning data loading via automated programs in SAP S/4HANA
- Provide support in planning and scheduling the PM Plans in SAP.
- Understand how technical information and data are used at each site, ensuring alignment with operational needs while supporting managers and project specialists in standardizing processes, tools, methods, and procedures for effective project delivery.
- Support strategy and planning activities by helping develop project management approaches and providing ongoing tracking of progress, costs, and KPIs to ensure timely and controlled execution.
- Drive knowledge capture and capability building by documenting lessons learned, updating the learnings database, and supporting team members to enhance their technical understanding and project execution skills.
- Exceptional communicator, quick learner, and collaborative team player with strong interpersonal and stakeholder‑management skills; able to engage effectively across functions, cultures, and organizational levels. Demonstrates flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to manage shifting priorities while driving clear, timely delivery.
- Applies engineering best practices, analytical thinking, and continuous improvement methodologies to identify issues, recommend enhancements, and implement effective solutions. Independently resourceful, proactive, and skilled in problem‑solving, research, and translating complex information into clear, actionable outcomes.
What you bring
- University Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/instrumentation or other Engineering.
- At least 5 years of experience in Plant Maintenance area within a Manufacturing or Upstream environment as an engineering user of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)with tools experience in Web Integrity Management System (WIMS), SPI -IN tools and Engineering Document Management Systems (EDMS.)
- Experience in Technical Data and Documents management including processes and tools.
- Skill level in SAP PM Master data objects like Functional Location, Equipment, BoM, Class & Characteristics, Measuring Point, Work Center and Task List
- Skill level in SAP PM Planning and Transactional Data Objects like Maintenance Plan, Maintenance Item, Notification, Work Order
- Understanding of PM Data standards and industry standards such as ISO14224
- Skill level in data conversion phases: extraction, transformation, and load.
- Skill level in reading engineering drawings like PFS, PEFS, SLD’s
- PowerBI visualization, Data Modelling and SQL competencies is preferred
- Mass Data Tool proficiencies will be added advantage
- Good Communication Skills and Excellent Stakeholder Management
- Project Management Skills (Project reporting)
- Plant maintenance Experience preferably in Oil & Gas/ Heavy Engineering/Power Plant
- MS Office inc. MS Access/excel/power point/outlook/MS Project
- Working across multiple time zones and Continuous Improvement Implementation.
