Hardware & Network Engineer

A Network Data Administrator is responsible for maintaining the integrity, performance, and security of data within an organization's network infrastructure. This role often combines elements of network administration, database management, and cybersecurity.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Network Management

Monitor network performance (LAN/WAN, VPNs).

Troubleshoot and resolve network outages, slowdowns, or bottlenecks.

Configure and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, and other network hardware.

Ensure high availability and minimal downtime.

2. Data Administration

Manage, back up, and maintain databases and data storage systems.

Implement data integrity checks and validation rules.

Manage permissions and access rights to ensure only authorized users can access sensitive data.

Plan and implement database upgrades and patches.

3. Security & Compliance

Enforce data and network security policies.

Implement and monitor firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and antivirus tools.

Regularly perform audits to ensure compliance with security standards (e.g., ISO, GDPR, HIPAA).

Respond to data breaches or network security incidents.

4. Data Backup & Recovery

Design and maintain backup schedules.

Test data recovery processes regularly.

Restore data in case of accidental deletion or system failure.

5. System Documentation

Maintain up-to-date documentation for networks, systems, and data flows.

Track changes to network and data configurations.

Create user manuals and technical guides.

6. Collaboration and Support

Work closely with IT, software development, and cybersecurity teams.

Provide support to internal users or clients regarding network/data access.

Train staff on best practices for data handling and security.

7. Performance Optimization

Analyze system and network performance metrics.

Recommend and implement performance tuning and improvements.

Monitor capacity and plan for future growth.

Key Skills Required:

Networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.)

Database management (SQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, etc.)

Firewall and security technologies

Data backup and disaster recovery solutions

Scripting

Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus
