Inventory analyst

Major Responsibilities:

The Plant Inventory Analyst serves a critical function of driving consistent processes and oversight of key inventory controls, Audits, transaction control, compliance as per Finance module. 

As a liaison between MP&L Staff and the Plant, the Plant Inventory Analyst must also work with various departments at the Plant to ultimately ensure inventory control management/Optimization, turns improvement, inventor forecast.

 

Job details:

  • Review and resolve negative inventory balances on a daily basis.  Determine root cause.

  • Assist the plant in performing the appropriate inventory transactions/corrections / adjustments

  • Support MP&L Staff/Plant in achieving Inventory target, including Inv roadmaps kept up to date with feasible action items

  • Verify Plant is compliant with MCRP guidelines and scorecard metric is green. Develop corrective actions/processes to achieve compliance/metric.

  • Analyze inventory records in order to assist with cycle root cause investigation and other related inventory BOH issues.

  • Prepare monthly inventory package to be reviewed with OCM. Lead discussions and work closely with plant management to address inventory issues and provide corrective actions.

  • Lead weekly inventory governance review process as per the defined standard

  • Provide training as required and be able to assist Plant with any questions.

  • Utilize reports in the SNURK and IMT to track plant performance. Understand data presented in reports and be able to provide training as needed.

  • Review Intra Company Settlement (ICS) transactions and work with plant teams to correct any mismatches (sending & receiving plant)

  • Prepare plants for any upcoming audits

  • Evaluate supplier’s locations for bailment to secure bailment inventory at supplier.

  • Provide training to supplier bailment personnel on correct use of CMMS as well as ensure bailment facility employees have appropriate CMMS security.

  • Check required documentation to identify shipment to be corrected in order to support Freight Claims, supplier/Carrier discrepancies, quality reject for bailed parts. 

  • Schedule/analyze/process bailment part cycle counts and maintain last reconciliation date for bailment parts on screen SHBA. Monitor negative BOH of bailment.

  • Assist plant engineering change control functions to manage running change of bailment as well as perform all required transactions during BOH fine tune.

  • Work closely with the Bailee and Plant Quality Department to ensure part transactions are performed accurately for quality issues.

  • Enter scrap transactions into CMMS for bailed parts (Bailee caused scrap and FCSD request) and ensure mutilation process at supplier for high scrap. 

  • Create manual ASN for bailed parts leaving the bailee to plant as per SCM request, quality reject, and non-moving bailments.

  • Support Finance to follow up aging payment of bailment chargeback.

  • Review CS part and bailment part to complete system set up for supplier type and work with PPM for BOM issues related to bailment 

Inventory Management:

  • Understand and Master the concept of In-plant float, Opres, Variable float, Fixed float, Advance Jobs, PFEP, Ship Frequency & Transit Time

  • Maintain & Update Right Inventory inputs in CMMS in line with agreed standards

  • Review & Challenge all Float / TT change requests based on Inventory impact to budget/Forecast & Business emergency

  • Review, Challenge and update stockpile requests based on Business case and ensure closure of stockpiles when business demand ends

  • Review and optimize all VSMs. Work with Plants, Network Logistics, RTM, Capacity, Op Plan, Supply Chain to identify opportunities of Inventory reduction in all input parameters

  • Inventory Budget / Forecast - Engage all Cross Functional teams in developing Budget / Business plan numbers

  • Ensure Monthly forecasting is done for all plants and support with necessary variance explanations

  • Deliver Inventory actuals In line with Budget & support with any efficiencies that may be tasked

Maintenance & Optimization:

  • Drive sustainable operation support for plant MP&L operations

  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to inventory and cycle count operations

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement 

  • Deploy latest advancements in MP&L plant operation with automation technologies driving efficiency.

  • Collaborate with the various MP&L skill engineering team to develop and implement AI automation reporting on KPI

 

Qualifications:

  • Engineering Degree or Equivalent Bachelor's degree.

  • 6+ years of experience in Manufacturing MP&L function – Inventory / Quality / Audit, Material Handling, SCM, ECC.

  • Altryx development, Python, datamart skill.

  • Experience with shop floor activities 

  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to interact effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • A proactive approach to identifying and resolving potential issues.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with cloud-based platforms and data analytics.

  • Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

  • Project management experience.
