Key Responsibilities

 

1️⃣ ETL Monitoring & Production Support

• Monitor scheduled ETL workflows across multiple platforms (Datastage, Talend, IBM CloudPak, Databricks).
• Provide L1/L2 production support ensuring ETL jobs meet SLA requirements.
• Identify failed jobs, capture logs, run diagnostic checks, and take initial corrective actions.

2️⃣ Troubleshooting & Incident Management

• Analyze ETL job failures, determine basic root causes, and follow standard escalation procedures.
• Collaborate with development/L3 teams to resolve complex production issues.
• Inform stakeholders proactively in case of system failures or delays.
• Track incident progress until closure and ensure proper documentation.

3️⃣ ETL Platform Health Monitoring

• Perform daily/weekly platform health monitoring and basic system checks.
• Support maintenance activities such as:
  • ETL server patching
  • Restarting ETL services
  • Cleaning temp directories/log files
  • Verifying job schedulers

4️⃣ Scripting & SQL Support

• Understand and troubleshoot basic Unix shell scripts used for job scheduling and file movement.
• Write simple SQL queries for:
  • Data validation
  • Recon checks
  • Null/duplicate analysis
  • Dataset consistency checks

5️⃣ Collaboration & Communication

• Coordinate with cross‑functional teams (Development, DBA, Infrastructure, DevOps).
• Provide timely updates to business stakeholders on failures and resolution status.
• Document job behaviors, known issues, and support runbooks for knowledge sharing.

6️⃣ Compliance, Audit & Data Security

• Follow organization’s compliance standards including:
  • Data security
  • Access policies
  • Audit requirements
• Apply best practices in handling sensitive datasets and pipeline logs.

7️⃣ Reporting & Documentation

• Maintain daily support logs, workflow dashboards, and job performance reports.
• Track ETL workload statistics and provide improvement suggestions.
• Maintain SOPs, incident records, and runbooks for recurring issues.

Required Skills (Must-Haves for Freshers)

• Basic understanding of ETL concepts, data pipelines, and data integration.
• Working knowledge of SQL (SELECT, JOINs, WHERE filters, aggregations).
• Familiarity with Unix/Linux commands and shell scripting.
• Willingness to work in rotational shifts for support operations.
• Good analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong communication and problem‑solving mindset.
• Ability to follow structured SOPs and support processes.

Good To Have (Added Advantage)

• Exposure to any ETL tool: Datastage, Talend, Informatica, ADF, Databricks.
• Understanding of data warehousing concepts (ODS, staging, fact/dimension).
• Experience with Python or Power BI for small automation tasks.

Education

• BE/BTech in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fields.
