Key responsibilies:
Conduct ongoing macroeconomic analysis relevant to base and precious metals, including:
Global growth indicators, inflaon, interest rates, FX (USD dynamics), and geopolical
developments
Analyse fundamental supply–demand dynamics across non-ferrous and precious metals,
with parcular focus on relevant drivers such as - mine producon, smelng/refining
capacity, disrupons and trends in fabricaon demand, substuon effects, recycling flows
Monitor and interpret physical market indicators, including - global exchange inventories
(LME, COMEX, SHFE) and off-exchange stocks, bonded warehouse movements as well as
physical premia, treatment & refining charges, freight and arbitrage flows
Perform technical analysis to support hedging and trading strategies with robust ideaon in
terms of deal structures and execuon strategies with relevant execuon plans (stop-loss /
take-profit and entry/exit levels) in alignment with the Group’s risk appete
Develop and maintain near-term and medium-term price outlooks for Base metals (Copper,
Tin, Nickel, Zinc, Lead, Aluminium) and precious metals (Gold, Silver, Palladium, Planum).
While primary coverage is envisaged with respect to Copper, Tin, Nickel, Gold and Silver,
opportunisc and episodical coverage of the other metals will be warranted from me to
me
Produce regular market commentary and ad-hoc event analysis covering macro data
releases, central bank acons and supply shocks, policy changes, sancons, strikes,
ESG/regulatory impacts
On the back of the above coverage, present - clear, aconable insights to internal
stakeholders including – Traders, Hedging Team and Senior Management. Support Hedging
and Trading Desks through: Scenario analysis, Sensivity modelling and Risk-reward
assessments
Maintain structured research frameworks, datasets, and dashboards to ensure analycal
consistency and repeatability.
Required Experience & Qualificaons:
5+ years of relevant experience in metals research, commodies trading support, or market
analysis is preferred. Analycal and research experience gained within relevant
environments (e.g. metals trading / producon house, commodity hedge fund, investment
banks’ commodies desk, KPOs supporng metals research efforts of global service
providers or the metals domain of rang agencies or research firms) will be considered as
relevant experience
Demonstrable experience in analyzing Copper will be strongly preferred with at least some
exposure to other base and/or precious metals
Experience of direct interacon with trading, hedging, or risk management funcons is
strongly preferred
Experience working with both paper markets and physical market indicators (not purely
macro or equies research) will be an added advantage
Bachelor’s degree (required) in: Economics / Finance / Engineering / Mathemacs /
Stascs and / or related quantave or numerical disciplines
Master’s degree (MSc / MA / MEng) in a relevant field is advantageous
Professional qualificaons will be viewed posively, including - CFA (completed or in
progress), FRM and other recognized commodies, derivaves, or financial market
cerficaons
Skills & Technical Competencies:
Strong understanding of - Global metals supply chains, Exchange-traded derivaves
(futures, opons) and dealing structures
Proficiency in quantave and analycal tools, including:
- Advanced Excel / spreadsheets
- Data plaorms (e.g. Bloomberg, Refiniv, LME data, SHFE data)
- Technical analysis tools and charng plaorms
- Hands on experience in harnessing AI tools to enrich forecasng and quality of
ideaon will be considered an added advantage
Ability to synthesize macro, fundamental, physical, and technical inputs into coherent
market views and hedging / trading ideaon
Excellent wrien and verbal communicaon skills: ability to translate complex market
dynamics into concise, decision-oriented insights
High aenon to detail, intellectual curiosity, and strong commercial awareness
Comfortable working in a fast-moving, trading-driven environment with me-sensive
deliverables
Prior experience supporng a physical metals trading desk would be an advantage
Exposure to hedging programs for producers, consumers, or trading enes
Familiarity with ESG, decarbonizaon, and energy-transion themes as they relate to metals
demand
