Software Engineer
Technical Skills (Core)
- Mainframe development: COBOL, JCL
- Databases and data access: DB2 / SQL, strong relational database knowledge (DB2, BigQuery, PostgreSQL exposure helpful)
- Mainframe utilities/tools such as: Endevor, CA7, Syncsort, Expeditor, Changeman, FileAid, SPUFI, IBM File Manager, debugging tools
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with Global Securitization stakeholders to understand product vision and translate it into a practical backlog of user stories for the engineering team
- Deliver development, enhancements, and production support in an Agile/PDO operating model
- Perform root-cause analysis and resolve issues in securitization applications
- Analyze requirements and design application enhancements/corrections aligned to business and technical needs
- Develop and execute unit test plans and scripts to validate modules meet technical specifications
- Balance engineering rigor with speed to delivery by proactively identifying/mitigating risk, presenting options, and managing justified technical debt
- Participate in rotational on-call support for production incidents and service restoration
- Lead assignments independently; escalate risks/issues appropriately to management
- Adapt quickly to changing priorities and deliver value iteratively
- Build deep product knowledge and work closely with the Product Manager to align delivery to product outcomes
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of hands-on experience with COBOL, JCL, CA7, DB2/SQL, IBM File Manager, and debugging tools
- Experience working in Agile methodology and PDO teams; familiarity with Rally (or similar tool) preferred
- Strong proficiency in advanced SQL and relational database concepts
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including ability to collaborate across business and technical teams

- Experience with SAFe Agile practices
- Demonstrated drive for results; ability to multi-task and work independently
- Self-starter mindset with proven innovation and continuous improvement behaviors
- Ability to effectively work with cross-functional/global teams
- Strong commitment to quality, reliability, and delivery timelines
- Ford Credit domain experience is a plus
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience)
