Summary Section  

The Cost controller is a core member of the Project Controls department who is responsible and accountable for the preparation of accurate cost reports and cost narratives for capital and expense projects to facilitate a completely controlled and cost-effective project execution. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Integrates the project cost estimate, workhour estimate, and project schedule into the Cost Management baseline.
  • Developing the Periodic Project cost reports of high accuracy, create cash flows, cancellation curves, analyzing the contingency, commitment, spent and forecasts of the project and create the cost narratives for chemical plants, petrochemicals, refineries etc., of small, medium or large projects.
  • Provides estimate of cancellation costs.
  • Estimates costs of deviations and assesses impact on total project cost.
  • Ensures accurate reflection of committed/spent funds, project deviation notices, field change orders, and project execution changes in all cost documents.
  • Leads the project team in deriving an accurate and realistic forecast of all funds required to complete the project within the defined budget and schedule while incorporating own trending and analyses.  
  • Ensures accurate representation of cost data in monthly reporting.
  • Alerts the project team to critical Cost Management issues.
  • Provides supporting data for project metrics, external benchmarking and project closure.
  • Lead the cost changes or deviations. Alert on thresholds and enhance controls. Integrate with various functional disciplines as a team player ensuring the right inputs for the accurate forecasting.
  • A self-starter and should analyze the contingency forecast and the drawdowns and cost accruals periodically to enhance smooth execution of the project.

Qualifications including Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • Engineering man-hour utilizations/allocations.
  • International currencies / currency conversion practices.
  • Elements (COA) of Project Cost structure.
  • Project Cost Management tools (MSD, OLEDB, etc.) and Methodology
  • Project Schedule Management tools and Work Process (general awareness)
  • Estimating Tools (general awareness)
  • Standard Accounting Work Process
  • Standard Procurement Work Process

Preferred Qualifications Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • Qualifications     : Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering/Technology
  • Post qualification Exp : 10+yrs (In Project Eng/Estimation/Cost Management)
  • Knowledge on OLEDB.
  • Knowledge on Power BI and MSD.
