Position: Structural Steel Engineer / Site Engineer

Planning & Estimation

• Prepare BOQs for structural steel fabrication and erection works.

• Assist in cost estimation, budgeting, and quantity take-offs based on approved drawings.

• Support project scheduling and planning activities in coordination with the planning team.

• Accurately interpret structural drawings, IFC drawings, and technical specifications.

Execution & Monitoring

• Execute and monitor fabrication and erection works as per approved IFC drawings, project specifications, and standards.

• Ensure materials and workmanship comply with project quality requirements.

• Maintain awareness of resource productivity and ensure optimal utilization of manpower, materials, and equipment.

• Verify alignment and positioning of erected steel structures as per approved drawings and survey coordinates.

• Monitor daily site activities and track progress against the approved schedule.

• Coordinate with structural steel vendors and fabricators to ensure timely material delivery and compliance with technical specifications.

• Liaise with engineering, QA/QC, and planning teams to manage work fronts and resolve site issues.

• Assist in resolving technical queries (TQs/RFIs) with the design team.

• Supervise welding, bolting, painting, and NDT activities in coordination with QA/QC teams.

• Ensure adherence to approved WPS, inspection test plans (ITP), and quality standards.

• Ensure strict compliance with safety procedures during structural steel handling, lifting, and erection activities.

• Promote safe work practices on site and actively participate in safety meetings and toolbox talks.

• Track daily manpower deployment and resource utilization.

• Prepare daily and weekly progress reports, identifying and highlighting deviations.

• Support material reconciliation, work measurements, and billing inputs.

• Maintain proper documentation of site activities and records.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of structural steel fabrication and erection practices.

• Proficiency in drawing interpretation, quantity estimation, and BOQ preparation.

• Good understanding of welding procedures, NDT methods, and quality standards.

• Strong coordination and communication skills.

• Ability to manage site activities efficiently and meet project timelines.
