System Development Engineer, Alexa Connections

The Alexa Connections team's mission is to bring people closer together by enabling customers to use their Alexa-powered devices for convenient, natural, and expressive conversations with family and friends. As a System Development Engineer I on the Alexa Connections team, you will support systems availability, monitoring, and performance optimization alongside experienced engineers. You will work directly with our development teams to help identify service-impacting issues and implement mitigations to common failure scenarios. You will learn the architecture of our systems, support software rollouts, build internal tools, and apply operational excellence principles to your work. Key job responsibilities
Build tools and automation solutions to improve operational efficiency and assist company-wide campaigns with Support and Engineering teams
Support pipeline automation and CI/CD initiatives to enhance deployment processes
Provide infrastructure support and troubleshooting across multiple products, features, and services
Deliver bug fixes and code enhancements primarily using Java and AWS technologies, with guidance from senior engineers
Participate in design, code, and procedure reviews, incorporating feedback to improve your solutions
Contribute to solutions that address compliance, security, and operational requirements

Basic Qualifications

- Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting infrastructure
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust
- Experience with Linux/Unix

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes
