Welder

Job Description:

The Welder is responsible for carrying out welding and fabrication work on ship structures in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform welding activities (ARC, MIG, TIG, gas cutting) on ship hulls, decks, bulkheads, and structural components.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and welding symbols.
• Prepare materials by cutting, grinding, and fitting before welding.
• Ensure weld quality as per shipbuilding standards and inspection requirements.
• Carry out repair and maintenance welding work as required.
• Follow safety procedures and use PPE at all times.
• Maintain welding equipment and tools in good working condition.
• Coordinate with supervisors, fitters, and other trades to meet production targets.

Requirements:

• ITI / certified welder qualification preferred.
• Relevant experience in shipbuilding or heavy fabrication industry.
• Knowledge of welding techniques and safety practices.
• Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
