Welder / Fitter

Key responsibilities 

∙ Assembly and installation: Install and assemble new machinery, equipment, and components using hand and power tools. 

∙ Maintenance and repair: Conduct routine maintenance, inspect equipment, and repair malfunctioning or broken machinery to minimize downtime and ensure continuous production. 

∙ Blueprint interpretation: Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints to understand component specifications and construction methods. 

∙ Fabrication: Use tools like shears, power saws, grinders, and welding equipment to cut, shape, and fabricate structural and mechanical components from raw materials. 

∙ Quality control: Inspect fabricated components to ensure they meet the correct size, shape, and quality specifications. 

∙ Safety and compliance: Adhere to all safety guidelines, company policies, and industry standards at all times, and ensure equipment compliance with safety regulations. 

∙ Collaboration: Work with production teams, engineers, and other colleagues to optimize equipment performance and troubleshoot issues. 

∙ Record keeping: Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities. 

Essential skills 

∙ Proficiency with hand and power tools, including cutting, grinding, and welding equipment. ∙ Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications. 

∙ Problem-solving and critical thinking skills for troubleshooting mechanical issues. ∙ Strong attention to detail to ensure precision and accuracy. 

∙ Physical stamina to work long hours on their feet and lift heavy parts. 

∙ Good communication and teamwork skills.
