Position Title: Cashier

Department: Front-End / Customer Service

Reports To: Store Manager / Supervisor

Job Summary

The Cashier is responsible for delivering excellent customer service while accurately processing sales transactions and handling cash, card, and other payment methods at the point of sale. The role supports smooth store operations, maintains a clean checkout area, and ensures accurate cash handling. 

Key Responsibilities (Duties)

• Greet customers warmly and provide friendly, professional service. 

• Operate the cash register or POS system to process sales, returns, and exchanges efficiently and accurately. 

• Accept and handle payments — cash, credit/debit cards, digital wallets — and provide correct change and receipts. 

• Ensure pricing accuracy by scanning items properly and checking price tags. 

• Balance the cash drawer at the beginning and end of each shift and report discrepancies. 

• Maintain a clean and organized checkout and front-end area. 

• Answer customer inquiries about products, pricing, promotions, and store policies. 

• Assist with bagging and packaging customers’ purchases when needed. 

• Help with basic stocking and inventory tasks during slow periods, if required. 

• Follow company procedures for cash handling, loss prevention, and customer service. 

• Perform other duties as assigned by management. 

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred). 

• Basic math skills and ability to handle cash accurately. 

• Good communication and interpersonal skills. 

• Familiarity with POS systems and basic computer skills. 

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. 

• Professional and customer-focused attitude. 

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous cashier or retail customer service experience. 

• Familiarity with inventory and restocking tasks. 

• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays. 

Working Conditions

• The role typically requires standing for extended periods. 

• May involve occasional lifting of merchandise or supplies.
