DTP Operator

Job Description:

A DTP (Desktop Publishing) Operator specializing in science typing is responsible for creating, formatting, and typesetting complex technical documents, such as scientific journals, textbooks, research papers, and educational materials. This role requires high proficiency in scientific notation, mathematical equations, and specialized software to ensure accuracy and visual quality.

Key Responsibilities:

Scientific Typesetting: Handling complex mathematical equations, chemical formulas, and scientific notations using specialized tools like MathType.

Document Formatting: Laying out multi-page documents, including textbooks and journals, to meet specific publishing guidelines.

Graphic Integration: Placing, resizing, and adjusting diagrams, charts, and tables to align with relevant text.

Proofreading and Editing: Ensuring accuracy of content, consistency in fonts, margins, and styles.

Pre-Press Preparation: Preparing print-ready PDF files with correct bleeds, margins, and color settings.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of DTP software including Adobe InDesign, QuarkXPress, MS Publisher, and CorelDRAW.

Scientific Tool Knowledge: Experience with MathType is highly valued for scientific publishing.

Typing Speed: High speed and accuracy, typically 40+ words per minute (WPM).

Language Proficiency: Often requires strong proficiency in English and often regional languages (e.g., Hindi).
