Job Title

Embedded Hardware & Systems Engineer – RTU / I-O Platforms (2 Positions)

Role Summary

We are developing an industrial RTU platform + IIOT Gateway using iMX93 processor, GSM 4G , Cat M communication with modular I/O and communication boards using CAN open designed in Altium Designer.

We are looking for hands-on engineers who will take full ownership from prototype to production, including:

• Prototype PCB assembly
• Component sourcing & vendor coordination
• Hardware bring-up and debugging
• Linux loading and system validation
• Coordination with firmware/software teams
• Manufacturing support, enclosure integration, and type testing

This is a build-and-make-live role, not a desk-only design position.

Key Responsibilities

1. Prototype & Hardware Bring-Up

• Get prototype PCBs fabricated and assembled
• Manually solder and rework components as required
• Perform power-up, signal integrity, and functional bring-up
• Debug hardware issues using oscilloscope, logic analyser, multimeter
• Validate schematics, PCB layouts, and BOMs provided by design consultant

2. Component Procurement & Vendor Coordination

• Finalise BOMs and alternate components
• Coordinate with component distributors and PCB assembly vendors
• Handle component shortages, substitutions, and lifecycle issues
• Work with EMS partners during pilot and volume manufacturing

3. RTU, Communication & I/O Board Integration

• Work on:
• RTU main boards
• Digital & analog I/O cards
• Communication interfaces (Ethernet, RS-485, CAN, cellular, etc.)
• Validate interfaces electrically and functionally
• Collaborate closely with the firmware team during board bring-up

4. Linux Bring-Up & System Integration

• Load and validate embedded Linux on RTU hardware
• Support bootloader, kernel, and root filesystem bring-up
• Assist firmware team with hardware–software interaction issues
• Validate peripherals under Linux (GPIO, UART, SPI, I2C, Ethernet)

5. Manufacturing & Production Support

• Support DFM / DFA improvements
• Assist in transitioning from prototype to pilot to production
• Create and maintain:
• Assembly instructions
• Test procedures
• Manufacturing documentation
• Support type testing, environmental testing, and compliance testing

6. Enclosure & Mechanical Coordination

• Work with 3D enclosure design software team
• Coordinate PCB–enclosure fitment
• Validate thermal, connector access, mounting, and cable routing
• Support enclosure modifications during production readiness

Required Skills & Experience

Technical Skills

• Strong hands-on experience in embedded hardware
• Practical experience with RTU / PLC / industrial electronics
• Working knowledge of Altium Designer (schematics, PCB review, BOM)
• Experience with:
• Oscilloscope, DMM, logic analyser
• Soldering stations & rework tools
• Understanding of:
• Power supplies
• MCU/MPU-based systems
• Industrial communication interfaces
• Exposure to embedded Linux systems
• Familiarity with manufacturing and type testing processes

Tools & Software

• Altium Designer (review & minor edits)
• Linux tools (console, flashing, debugging)
• Basic scripting or command-line proficiency
• Any 3D CAD / enclosure design software (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, etc.)

Desired Profile

• B.Tech / M.Tech in Electronics, Electrical, Instrumentation, or similar
• 3–8 years of relevant hands-on experience
• Comfortable working in lab and factory environments
• Strong troubleshooting mindset
• Willing to work across hardware + manufacturing + system integration
• Experience with industrial products is a strong advantage
