General Duty Assistant

A General Duty Assistant (GDA) in Home Care supports healthcare teams by providing direct patient care, focusing on daily living activities, hygiene, mobility, and comfort, while also managing essential tasks like taking vital signs, assisting with basic procedures (like putting up drips), ensuring a clean environment, and transporting patients, all under the supervision of nurses and doctors to improve patient outcomes and free up specialised staff. 

Core Patient Care at his Home

Hygiene: Assisting with bathing, dressing, grooming, oral care, bedpans, and maintaining a clean patient area. 

Mobility: Helping patients move in/out of bed, walk, use wheelchairs, and turn to prevent bedsores. 

Feeding: Assisting with meals, serving food, and providing nourishment. 

Vitals: Monitoring and recording temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure. 

Support: Offering psychological support and aiding in daily chores and exercises.
