Job Description
Role PurposeThe PGT (Sociology) is responsible for teaching Sociology to Classes XI–XII, fostering critical thinking, social awareness, and academic excellence in line with the CBSE curriculum. The teacher prepares students for board examinations while promoting values of citizenship, diversity, and social responsibility.
- Key ResponsibilitiesAcademic & Teaching ResponsibilitiesTeach Sociology to Classes XI and XII as per CBSE syllabus
- Prepare annual plans, lesson plans, and teaching aids
- Deliver engaging and student-centred lessons using modern pedagogy
- Integrate case studies, current affairs, and real-world examples
- Conduct regular assessments, unit tests, and assignments
- Examination & EvaluationPrepare students for CBSE board examinations
- Set question papers, worksheets, and sample papers
- Evaluate answer scripts and provide constructive feedback
- Maintain accurate academic records and student progress reports
- Student DevelopmentEncourage critical thinking, discussion, and analytical writing
- Identify learning gaps and provide remedial support
- Mentor students in academic and career-related guidance in humanities
- Support students’ social and emotional development
- Curriculum & Professional ResponsibilitiesParticipate in curriculum planning and departmental meetings
- Attend CBSE trainings, workshops, and professional development programs
- Stay updated with changes in CBSE guidelines and assessment patterns
- Contribute to interdisciplinary projects and school initiatives
- Administrative & School DutiesMaintain discipline and classroom management
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress
- Assist in school events, examinations, and co-curricular activities
- Perform duties assigned by school administration from time to time
- QualificationsMaster’s Degree in Sociology
- B.Ed. (mandatory as per CBSE norms)
- CTET qualification (preferred, if applicable)
- Skills & CompetenciesStrong subject knowledge and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Proficiency in ICT tools and smart classroom teaching
- Ability to engage senior secondary students effectively
- Commitment to ethics, inclusivity, and continuous learning
- ExperienceMinimum 2–5 years of teaching experience at senior secondary level preferred
- Fresh postgraduates with strong academic background may be considered
