Pre Press Operator

1. Artwork & Technical Preparation

Create and modify key lines (dielines) for paper bags and packaging structures.

Prepare print-ready files as per offset printing standards.

Ensure correct:

Bleeds

Margins

Registration

Trapping

Overprint settings

Spot colors / Pantone matching

Check artwork for technical feasibility before sending to plate making.

2. Software & Design Handling

Strong working knowledge of:

CorelDRAW (mandatory)

Adobe Illustrator (preferred)

Basic Photoshop knowledge

Convert customer artworks into production-ready formats.

Manage vector corrections, curve adjustments, and precision measurements.

Maintain structured file management and version control.

3. Offset Printing Coordination

Experience working with offset printing presses.

Understand:

Plate making process

Color separation

Dot gain

CMYK vs Pantone workflow

Lamination & post-print finishing implications

Coordinate with press operators to resolve print issues.

Attend press approvals when required.

4. Packaging-Specific Expertise

Understanding of:

GSM variations

Grain direction

Folding allowances

Creasing tolerances

Hot foil stamping alignment

UV, emboss/deboss positioning

Ensure structural accuracy of V-bottom and flat bottom bag formats.

Prepare mockups when required.

5. Quality Control & Error Prevention

Perform detailed pre-flight checks before plate release.

Maintain error log and preventive checklist.

Reduce rejections and plate wastage.

Ensure consistency across repeat orders.

Required Qualifications

3–7 years experience in pre-press for offset printing.

Prior experience in packaging industry preferred.

Diploma / Certification in Printing Technology or Graphic Design (preferred).

Experience working directly with offset press teams.
