Job Description

A security guard recruiter identifies, screens, and hires qualified security personnel to protect premises, assets, and people. They evaluate candidates for physical fitness, licensure, and background checks, ensuring compliance with legal standards. Key responsibilities include sourcing talent, conducting interviews, and verifying qualifications like armed certifications or CPR training.

Key Responsibilities of a Security Guard Recruiter

  • Sourcing & Screening: Actively seek candidates via job boards, referrals, and specialized security staffing platforms, filtering for relevant experience (e.g., military, law enforcement, private security).
  • Background Verification: Verify essential credentials, including valid security guard licenses, driver’s licenses, and, if required, firearms permits.
  • Interviewing: Conduct interviews to evaluate candidate knowledge of safety protocols, surveillance systems (CCTV), and incident reporting.
  • Background Check & Drug Screening: Ensure all hires pass background checks, drug screenings, and sometimes psychological evaluations.
  • Onboarding: Manage the initial onboarding process, including scheduling training sessions on emergency procedures and site-specific protocols.
  • Needs Assessment: Work with company managers to determine the specific needs of the location (e.g., retail, corporate, residential). 

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Industry Knowledge: Solid understanding of security protocols, licensing requirements, and legal compliance.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication for interviews and reporting.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to spot discrepancies in licenses or background screenings.
  • Recruitment Experience: Prior experience in staffing or human resources, preferably in the security or high-volume blue-collar sectors.
