PURCHASE ENGINEER

Job Summary:

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Purchase Engineer to join our procurement team. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent negotiation skills, and a keen understanding of the engineering and manufacturing industry. The Purchase Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials, equipment, and services while maintaining high-quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Sourcing & Supplier Management:

    • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on cost, quality, and reliability.
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure long-term partnerships.
    • Conduct supplier audits and assessments to ensure compliance with company standards.
  2. Procurement Process:

    • Prepare and process purchase orders, requests for quotations (RFQs), and requests for proposals (RFPs).
    • Negotiate prices, terms, and conditions with suppliers to achieve cost savings.
    • Ensure that all purchased materials and equipment meet the required specifications and standards.
  3. Cost Management:

    • Analyze cost breakdowns and market trends to optimize procurement budgets.
    • Implement cost reduction strategies without compromising on quality.
    • Monitor and control the budget for purchases, ensuring cost-efficiency.
  4. Inventory & Logistics Management:

    • Coordinate with inventory and production teams to ensure optimal stock levels.
    • Monitor delivery schedules to ensure timely arrival of materials.
    • Address any issues related to delayed deliveries or defective products.
  5. Technical Evaluation:

    • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to understand technical requirements.
    • Evaluate technical specifications and ensure alignment with project needs.
    • Conduct quality checks on critical materials and components.
  6. Compliance & Documentation:

    • Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies and industry regulations.
    • Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier performance.
    • Prepare reports on procurement activities, cost analysis, and supplier performance.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in procurement or purchasing within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of engineering materials, components, and equipment.
    • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and procurement software.
    • Familiarity with ISO standards and quality control procedures.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
