PURCHASE ENGINEER
Job Summary:
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Purchase Engineer to join our procurement team. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent negotiation skills, and a keen understanding of the engineering and manufacturing industry. The Purchase Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials, equipment, and services while maintaining high-quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Sourcing & Supplier Management:
- Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on cost, quality, and reliability.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure long-term partnerships.
- Conduct supplier audits and assessments to ensure compliance with company standards.
Procurement Process:
- Prepare and process purchase orders, requests for quotations (RFQs), and requests for proposals (RFPs).
- Negotiate prices, terms, and conditions with suppliers to achieve cost savings.
- Ensure that all purchased materials and equipment meet the required specifications and standards.
Cost Management:
- Analyze cost breakdowns and market trends to optimize procurement budgets.
- Implement cost reduction strategies without compromising on quality.
- Monitor and control the budget for purchases, ensuring cost-efficiency.
Inventory & Logistics Management:
- Coordinate with inventory and production teams to ensure optimal stock levels.
- Monitor delivery schedules to ensure timely arrival of materials.
- Address any issues related to delayed deliveries or defective products.
Technical Evaluation:
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to understand technical requirements.
- Evaluate technical specifications and ensure alignment with project needs.
- Conduct quality checks on critical materials and components.
Compliance & Documentation:
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies and industry regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier performance.
- Prepare reports on procurement activities, cost analysis, and supplier performance.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in procurement or purchasing within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of engineering materials, components, and equipment.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and procurement software.
- Familiarity with ISO standards and quality control procedures.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
