Retail Cashier

Job Summary:

The Bakery Sales Counter Salesperson is responsible for providing excellent customer service, assisting customers with product selection, handling sales transactions, and maintaining the cleanliness and presentation of the bakery counter. This role ensures that all baked goods are displayed attractively and that customers have a pleasant shopping experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Greet and assist customers in a friendly, professional manner.
• Provide detailed information about bakery products, ingredients, and promotions.
• Take and process customer orders accurately (in person and over the phone).
• Operate the cash register, handle payments, and issue receipts.
• Ensure bakery displays are clean, well-stocked, and visually appealing.
• Package and label baked goods properly according to company standards.
• Monitor product freshness and rotate stock as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness of the counter, display cases, and work area.
• Handle customer complaints or queries promptly and courteously.
• Assist with inventory checks and restocking supplies when required.
• Follow all food safety and hygiene regulations.

Qualifications & Skills:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior experience in retail, bakery, or food service preferred.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Basic math and cash-handling ability.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Attention to detail and product presentation.
• Friendly, reliable, and well-groomed appearance.
• Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and carry bakery products or supplies (up to 25 lbs).
• Manual dexterity for packaging and handling baked goods.

Work Environment:

• Retail bakery or café setting.
• Interaction with customers and team members throughout the shift.
