Senior Accountant

Daily Accounting & Data Entry Responsibilities

The Senior Accountant shall handle all daily accounting activities, including posting of cash, bank, purchase, sales, journal, and expense vouchers in Tally. He/She will ensure timely and accurate recording of transactions, regular bank reconciliations, and maintenance of proper accounting records to reflect true and fair financial positions of both head office and project sites.

Cost Center & Site-Wise Accounting

The incumbent must have strong knowledge of cost center management in Tally, as the organization operates multiple sites with multiple cost centers. He/She will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and monitoring site-wise and department-wise cost centers, allocating expenses accurately, and generating cost center–wise expenditure and profitability reports to support project and management decisions.

GST Compliance & Management

The Senior Accountant will manage end-to-end GST compliance, including verification of GST applicability, reconciliation of input tax credit, and preparation and filing of GST returns such as GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B. Coordination with vendors for correct GST invoicing and maintaining proper documentation for audits and departmental inspections will be a key responsibility.

TDS & Income Tax Compliance

The role includes calculation, deduction, deposit, and filing of TDS as per applicable sections of the Income Tax Act. The Senior Accountant will prepare TDS returns, issue Form 16 and Form 16A, reconcile TDS data, and handle any notices or clarifications from the income tax department.

Payroll & Salary Processing

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for preparing and managing monthly salary sheets for all employees, including site staff, engineers, supervisors, and contractual manpower. This includes attendance-based salary calculation, deductions related to PF, ESI, TDS, advances, and other adjustments. Confidential handling of payroll data and maintenance of salary records is essential.

Statutory & Compliance Support

He/She shall support compliance related to PF, ESI, and other applicable labour laws, either directly or in coordination with consultants. The Senior Accountant will ensure proper maintenance of statutory records and assist during internal audits, external audits, and departmental verifications.

Reporting & Management Support

The role requires preparation of monthly financial statements, site-wise expenditure reports, outstanding and ageing reports, and other MIS as required by management. The Senior Accountant will assist management in budgeting, cost control, cash flow planning, and financial analysis for ongoing and upcoming projects.

Educational Qualifications

The candidate should possess a B.Com or M.Com degree. CA-Inter or CMA-Inter qualification will be considered an added advantage.

Experience Requirements

The candidate should have a minimum of 5–8 years of relevant experience, preferably in construction, infrastructure, water supply, or O&M projects, with proven exposure to multi-site accounting operations.

Technical & Professional Skills

Strong hands-on experience in Tally (ERP/Prime) is mandatory. The candidate must have excellent knowledge of GST, TDS, cost center accounting, and working proficiency in MS Excel for salary sheets, reconciliations, and MIS preparation.
