Service Engineer

The UPS Service Engineer is responsible for installation, commissioning, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency repair of UPS systems and associated power backup equipment at customer sites. The role ensures maximum uptime, compliance with safety standards, and high customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Installation & Commissioning

Install, test, and commission UPS systems (Online / Modular / Industrial)

Configure battery banks (VRLA / SMF / Lithium-ion as applicable)

Ensure proper earthing, cabling, and load connection

Conduct site readiness checks prior to installation

Maintenance & Support

Perform preventive maintenance as per AMC schedule

Conduct health checks for UPS, batteries, and power components

Maintain service records, checklists, and reports

Ensure systems operate within specified parameters

Troubleshooting & Repairs

Diagnose faults at component and system level

Repair or replace defective parts (IGBTs, PCBs, capacitors, fans, etc.)

Handle emergency breakdown calls within SLA timelines

Coordinate with OEMs for complex issues

Customer Support

Provide technical assistance and guidance to clients

Train customer personnel on basic operation and safety

Maintain professional communication and service etiquette

Documentation & Compliance

Prepare service reports, incident reports, and root cause analysis

Follow electrical safety standards and company procedures

Maintain inventory of tools and spare parts

Support FAT/SAT, audits, and technical inspections when required

Required Qualifications

Diploma / ITI / B.E. in Electrical or Electronics Engineering

2–6 years of experience in UPS service, power systems, or electrical maintenance

Experience with 1 kVA to large capacity UPS systems (e.g., 10 kVA–800 kVA preferred)

Knowledge of batteries, rectifiers, inverters, and power electronics

Ability to read electrical drawings and schematics

Required Skills

Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills

Hands-on experience with electrical tools and testing equipment

Understanding of three-phase power systems

Good communication and customer-handling skills

Ability to work independently at field sites

Willingness to travel extensively and work in shifts/on-call

Preferred Requirements

Experience in data centers, hospitals, manufacturing plants, or events

Knowledge of generator synchronization and power distribution

Valid driving license

OEM certifications (if any) will be an advantage

Working Conditions

Field-based role with frequent travel

May require working during nights, weekends, or emergencies

Exposure to industrial environments and electrical equipment
