Overview

The Slip House Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the complete slip preparation process used in ceramic pot manufacturing. The role ensures accurate batching, mixing, filtering, and storage of slip, maintains strict process parameters, and coordinates with production, quality, and maintenance teams to achieve consistent product quality and uninterrupted operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Slip Preparation & Process

• Control Supervise and execute daily slip preparation activities as per approved formulations.
• Ensure correct batching of raw materials such as clay, feldspar, kaolin, grog, and additives.
• Monitor slurry density, viscosity, moisture content, residue levels, and other critical parameters.
• Maintain slip tanks, agitators, mixers, blungers, sieves, and pumps for smooth functioning.
• Ensure timely supply of slip to forming departments (casting, pressing, jiggering, etc.).

2. Quality & Compliance

Conduct routine tests and sampling of slip to meet quality specifications.

• Coordinate with the Quality Control team on adjustments and corrective actions.
• Maintain quality documentation, batch records, and process logs.
• Ensure adherence to safety, hygiene, and environmental compliance guidelines.

3. Team Supervision & Coordination

• Lead slip house operators, helpers, and material handlers.
• Allocate daily work assignments and monitor productivity.
• Train team members on SOPs, equipment handling, and quality standards.
• Coordinate with production, maintenance, and stores for uninterrupted workflow.

4. Inventory & Material Handling

• Track daily consumption of raw materials and auxiliaries.
• Request material replenishment and maintain inventory levels.
• Monitor safe storage of chemicals and raw materials.
• Minimise wastage and ensure proper housekeeping in the slip house.

5. Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting

• Conduct routine checks on blungers, pumps, mixers, sieves, and pipelines.
• Report breakdowns and coordinate with maintenance for timely repair.
• Ensure preventive maintenance schedules are followed.
