Job Description
- Key Responsibilities1. Propulsion Design & AnalysisDesign solid, liquid, or hybrid rocket motors based on mission requirements
- Perform thermodynamic, fluid dynamic, and combustion analysis
- Calculate thrust, chamber pressure, burn rate, specific impulse (Isp), and efficiency
- Design and optimise nozzles, combustion chambers, injectors, and grain geometry
- 2. Simulation & ModellingUse analytical and numerical tools for:
- Internal ballistics
- Heat transfer and thermal loads
- Structural integrity of motor casing
- Work with tools such as MATLAB, Python, ANSYS, OpenFOAM, or equivalent
- 3. Propellant DevelopmentAssist in formulation and testing of:
- Solid propellants (APCP, composite propellants)
- Liquid bipropellants or monopropellants
- Hybrid fuel–oxidiser combinations
- Evaluate burn rate, stability, erosive burning, and ageing characteristics
- 4. Manufacturing & IntegrationSupport motor casting, curing, machining, and assembly
- Ensure process safety and repeatability
- Interface with structures, avionics, and payload teams for system integration
- 5. Testing & ValidationPlan and conduct:
- Static fire tests
- Subscale and full-scale motor tests
- Instrument motors with pressure, temperature, and thrust sensors
- Analyse test data and recommend design iterations
- 6. Safety & ComplianceEnsure strict adherence to explosive safety, hazardous material handling, and test protocols
- Maintain documentation for audits, internal reviews, and regulatory compliance
