About the Role:
- We are seeking a hands-on leader to manage a hybrid team of Project Managers and Business Analysts. In this role, you will bridge the gap between our technical IT teams (Developers, Infrastructure) and our business units (Field Operations, Sales, Customer Service).
- You will ensure that business requirements are accurately captured by your BAs and that IT initiatives are delivered on time by your PMs. Your primary goal is to build a high-performing delivery engine that implements technology solutions.
Job Responsibilities:
- Partner with the CIO to define and maintain the IT Project Roadmap, balancing "keep the lights on" maintenance with innovation initiatives.
- Manage the "intake funnel" for new project requests from VPs (Ops, Finance, Sales etc), ensuring all requests are scored, sized, and prioritized based on ROI and strategic value.
- Provide transparent, executive-level reporting on product portfolio health, budget variance, and risk exposure to the C-Suite.
- Manage, mentor, and hire a hybrid team of Project Managers and Business Analysts.
- Standardize delivery methodologies: Implement frameworks for Requirements Gathering (e.g., User Stories, Process Maps) and Project Execution (Agile for apps, Waterfall for ERPs).
- Allocate resources dynamically across the portfolio to prevent bottlenecks.
- Act as the primary escalation point for business stakeholders regarding project scope, timeline, or quality issues.
- Manage relationships with external software vendors and system integrators to ensure accountability and contract adherence.
Key Result Areas:
- Delivery Performance: Achieve >90% on-time and on-budget delivery for the IT project portfolio.
- Stakeholder Satisfaction (CSAT): Maintain high internal customer satisfaction scores across business units (Ops, SHE, Finance, Operations etc.) regarding IT responsiveness and solution quality.
- Requirement Quality: Reduction in "re-work" caused by missed requirements; ensuring BAs achieve sign-off on Functional Specs before development begins.
- Resource Utilization: Optimization of team capacity (ensuring PMs/BAs are fully utilized but not burned out).
Business Value Realization: Post-implementation tracking to verify that delivered projects actually achieved their business goals (e.g., "Did the new routing software actually reduce drive time by 5%?").
Requirements
Competencies (Skills essential to the role):
- Deep understanding of SDLC, Agile/Scrum, and Waterfall methodologies, and the ability to apply them pragmatically in a non-software company.
- Expertise in Jira, MS Project, Smartsheet, Visio (for process mapping), and ERP/CRM ecosystems.
- The ability to communicate complex technical risks and trade-offs to non-technical executives ( CFO, VPs) clearly and confidently.
- Ability to mediate disputes between conflicting stakeholders.
- Skill in driving adoption of new tools among field staff and branch managers who may be resistant to change.
- A track record of coaching BAs and PMs to improve their skills and career trajectory.
- The ability to look at a business process (e.g., "Procure-to-Pay" or "Lead-to-Cash") and identify where technology can remove friction.
- Understanding of CAPEX vs. OPEX budgeting, ROI calculation, and total cost of ownership (TCO) for IT assets.
Educational Qualification / Other Requirement:
- Any Software/Engineering Bachelors
- MBA in a technology related field.
- 5-10 years of experience managing a team of BAs/PM or similar role.
Role Type / Key working relationships:
- Individual Contributor
- Internal Stakeholders
- External stakeholders
