        Cashier/Front-Counter Staff

• Greet customers politely when they arrive, and provide a welcoming first impression.
• Take customer orders (dine-in, take-out, delivery, as applicable), and enter them accurately into the Point-of-Sale (POS) system.
• Process payments: handle cash, credit/debit cards, mobile payments; give accurate change; issue receipts.
• Manage end-of-shift cash reconciliation: balance cash drawer, account for all transactions, prepare daily sales/transaction report.
• Provide customer service: answer queries about menu, prices, specials; handle complaints or issues courteously, and escalate if needed.
• Coordinate with kitchen/wait-staff: communicate special requests, dietary restrictions, order modifications; ensure smooth food service flow.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization at the cashier station and front-of-house area (register counter, receipts, supplies, maybe front-of-house hygiene).
• Sometimes assist with additional front-of-house tasks: packing take-out orders, helping with minor cleaning or customer service tasks during busy hours.

🔹 Required Skills / Qualifications

• Basic education (e.g. 12th pass / high-school level; depending on restaurant’s requirement) is usually sufficient.
• Good communication and customer-service skills.
• Comfortable with cash handling, basic math (making correct change), and using a POS / billing system.
• Ability to work under pressure, multitask during rush hours, and stay methodical and accurate.
• Flexibility with working hours — may include shifts, weekends, holidays depending on restaurant.
• Physical stamina: standing for long periods; occasionally light lifting (e.g. trays, small packages) depending on duties.

🔹 Preferred / Optional Attributes

• Prior experience in hospitality / retail / restaurant environment (though many places hire freshers).
• Friendly and courteous demeanor — as cashiers are often the “face” of the restaurant.
• Basic computer literacy if POS or billing software is used.
• Ability to assist in additional tasks as needed — e.g. helping with packing orders or coordinating with kitchen / delivery staff.

• The role may involve handling orders, not just payments — depending on how the restaurant is structured (especially in quick-service / fast-food).
• Cash reconciliation, shift-end balancing and accurate record-keeping are critical to avoid errors
