Job Description
Food Preparation: Prepare and cook high-quality dishes within your designated station(s) according to the menu and recipes provided. This may include tasks such as chopping vegetables, butchering meat, and preparing sauces.
Station Management: Take charge of your designated station, ensuring all necessary ingredients are available and that equipment is in good working order. Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in your area.
Menu Knowledge: Have a thorough understanding of the menu, including ingredients, cooking techniques, and presentation. Be able to answer questions from other kitchen staff or waitstaff regarding your dishes.
Quality Control: Monitor the quality of ingredients and dishes at your station to ensure they meet the established standards. Report any issues or discrepancies to the Sous Chef or Head Chef.
Adherence to Recipes and Standards: Follow recipes and guidelines provided by the Head Chef or Sous Chef consistently. This includes portion sizes, cooking methods, and plating techniques.
Collaboration: Work closely with other members of the kitchen team to coordinate the timing of dishes and ensure that all components of a meal are ready at the same time. Communicate effectively with colleagues.
Training and Mentorship: Assist in training and supervising junior staff members assigned to your station. Provide guidance on techniques, recipes, and kitchen protocols.
Inventory Management: Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records for your station. Notify the appropriate personnel when supplies are running low.
Health and Safety Compliance: Follow all health and safety regulations and practices, including proper food handling and storage, to maintain a safe and sanitary kitchen environment.
Creativity and Innovation: Contribute to menu development by suggesting new dishes, cooking techniques, or ingredient combinations. Collaborate with the Head Chef in creating seasonal or special menu items.
