Reports to: Head of Department

Job Overview

• Responsible for electrical design and engineering for hydro power projects (Water-to-Wire concept) from bidding through execution, including product manufacturing, electrical & automation systems, and control/protection panel assembly, testing and commissioning.
• Work may include national and international assignments.

Key Responsibilities (independent work expected)

• Prepare and review Single Line Diagrams (SLDs).
• Design earthing, DC/AC systems, cabling and illumination systems.
• Specify and select HV/EHV switchyard equipment (CT, PT, isolators, LA, etc.).
• Prepare specifications for hydro generators, generator transformers, auxiliary and distribution transformers.
• Select and size low- & medium-voltage switchgear; prepare specifications and calculations for MCCs and PCCs.
• Design plant automation and instrumentation systems.
• Develop control and protection schemes; prepare BOMs and technical specifications.
• Evaluate and compare technical offers from vendors and contractors.
• Ensure designs comply with IEC, IEEE and other applicable international standards.
• Support panel assembly, factory testing, site testing and commissioning activities.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, clients and vendors; travel as required.

Qualifications & Experience

• B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
• 5–6 years’ experience in the power industry, preferably with hydro power projects.
• Hands-on experience across bidding, detailed design, and execution phases.
• Experience with electrical manufacturing and control/protection panels preferred.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of relevant standards (IEC, IEEE, etc.).
• Proficient in AutoCAD and MS Office; familiarity with electrical design/calculation tools.
• Good technical writing, presentation and communication skills (written & verbal).
• Team player: collaborative, flexible in thinking and operating style.
• Committed, energetic, reliable and ready to travel.
• Ability to evaluate technical offers and make vendor/technical recommendations.

Physical & Other Requirements

• Able to travel and work at project sites (national/international) as required.
• Ability to perform site inspections and attend extended commissioning activities.
