Job Description

Job Title: Maintenance Supervisor – Healthcare Infrastructure Primary Role The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for safe, continuous, and compliant operation of healthcare infrastructure, ensuring all medical and non-medical systems function reliably with minimal downtime while meeting hospital safety, infection control, and regulatory standards.

  • Key Responsibilities
  • 1. Facility & Infrastructure Maintenance Supervise preventive and corrective maintenance of hospital buildings and utilities.
  • Ensure proper upkeep of wards, OPDs, ICUs, OTs, labs, CSSD, and isolation areas.
  • Monitor civil works, minor repairs, painting, waterproofing, doors, partitions, and flooring.
  • 2. MEP Systems Supervision Oversee maintenance of Electrical systems (HT/LT panels, DG sets, UPS, lighting).
  • Supervise HVAC systems (AHUs, chillers, VRV/VRF, exhaust & pressurization systems).
  • Monitor Plumbing & drainage systems, STP/ETP, water supply, and hot water systems.
  • Ensure uninterrupted functioning of Medical Gas Pipeline Systems (MGPS).
  • 3. Medical & Support Systems Coordinate maintenance of nurse call systems, pneumatic tube systems, BMS, fire alarm systems, and access control systems.
  • Ensure medical support systems meet NABH, JCI, and local statutory requirements.
  • Coordinate with biomedical teams for infrastructure-linked medical equipment.
  • 4. Preventive Maintenance Planning Prepare and implement Preventive Maintenance Schedules (PMS).
  • Maintain records of daily, weekly, monthly, and annual maintenance activities.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify risks before breakdowns occur.
  • 5. Safety, Compliance & Infection Control Ensure compliance with hospital safety protocols, fire safety norms, and statutory regulations.
  • Enforce infection control practices during maintenance activities.
  • Coordinate mock drills and safety audits as per hospital policy.
  • Ensure use of proper PPE and safety procedures by maintenance staff.
  • 6. Team Management & Coordination Supervise technicians, electricians, plumbers, HVAC staff, and contract workers.
  • Allocate manpower efficiently for shifts and emergency calls.
  • Train staff on healthcare-specific maintenance practices.
  • 7. Vendor & AMC Management Coordinate with OEMs, AMCs, and service vendors.
  • Verify service reports, work completion, and spare parts usage.
  • Assist in finalizing maintenance contracts and service agreements.
  • 8. Emergency & Breakdown Handling Respond immediately to critical breakdowns affecting patient care.
  • Ensure rapid restoration of services during power failure, HVAC failure, or MGPS issues.
  • Maintain emergency contact lists and escalation protocols.
  • 9. Documentation & Reporting Maintain logs for equipment uptime, breakdowns, and corrective actions.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance reports.
  • Assist management during NABH/JCI audits and inspections.
  • 10. Cost Control & Resource Optimization Monitor maintenance expenses and optimize resource utilization.
  • Recommend upgrades, replacements, or energy-saving initiatives.
  • Reduce downtime and prevent costly emergency repairs.
