Skip Tracer

Role Overview

We are looking for a highly skilled Skip Tracer who can locate and track down customers who have absconded, committed fraud, or are completely unresponsive. The ideal candidate should be an expert at data investigation, fraud detection, and alternative tracing methods, ensuring timely recovery and preventing further risk.

Key Responsibilities

🔍 Customer Tracing & Investigation

Trace customers who are not reachable, have skipped addresses, or have committed fraudulent activities.

Conduct deep research through

Public records

Social media

Telecom traces

Credit bureau reports

Third-party and internal databases

Identify alternate phone numbers, addresses, workplaces, neighbours, or associates.

🔐 Fraud Prevention & Detection

Detect red flags indicating potential fraud, identity mismatch, or fake documents.

Coordinate with Risk & Verification teams for fraud analysis.

Track patterns of repeated fraud or misuse of loan services.

📞 Communication & Lead Validation

Make verification calls tactfully without breaking compliance rules.

Engage with neighbors, references, employers, and field agents for leads.

Verify factual accuracy of information and update the system.

📝 Reporting & Documentation

Prepare detailed skip tracing reports.

Maintain records of findings, leads generated, and tracing actions taken.

Report fraud-related cases immediately to management.

🤝 Coordination

Work closely with Collections, Legal, Risk, Field Teams, and third-party agencies.

Share actionable intelligence for recovery or legal proceedings.

Required Skills

Technical & Investigative Skills

Strong knowledge of tracing tools, social media investigation, and database search.

Experience in fraud tracing or hard bucket collection (preferred).

Ability to analyse patterns and identify suspicious activities.

Soft Skills

Excellent communication & negotiation skills.

High persistence, patience, and problem-solving ability.

Street-smart, quick decision-making, and attention to detail.

Other Requirements

Understanding of RBI/NBFC compliance, privacy rules, and non-harassment guidelines.

Ability to work under pressure and meet tracing deadlines.
