What started with rescuing 5 Indian dogs has grown into a movement caring for 70+ rescued dogs at our 1-acre sanctuary in Gurugram.

Our sanctuary isn't just a shelter—it's a community space where people and dogs come together for mutual joy. With on-site veterinary facilities, play areas, and adoption events every weekend, we're creating ripples of positive change. In collaboration with Blue Cross of India, we've launched India's first mobile hospital for on-site treatment of street animals.

Position OverviewThe Veterinary Assistant cum Care Taker plays a vital role in ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all dogs at our Farm Club sanctuary. This dual-role position combines veterinary support duties with daily animal care responsibilities, working directly with our in-house veterinarian, Dr. Dashrath, who has built our hospital from scratch. You'll be part of a passionate team dedicated to giving every paw the best journey in life.

Key ResponsibilitiesVeterinary Assistance

•      Assist Dr. Dashrath and visiting veterinarians during medical examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures

•      Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as directed

•      Monitor vital signs and observe animals for signs of illness, injury, or distress

•      Maintain accurate medical records and update health documentation for each of our 70+ dogs

•      Prepare and sterilize medical equipment in our on-site veterinary facility

•      Assist with sample collection (blood, urine, stool) for laboratory testing

•      Support our sterilization and vaccination initiatives (addressing 40% unvaccinated and 60% unneutered street dog population)

•      Provide post-operative care and monitor recovery of animals

Animal Care & Welfare

•      Feed dogs according to dietary requirements and schedules (140+ meals daily across our shelter)

•      Ensure fresh water is available at all times

•      Clean and maintain kennels, enclosures, and play areas to hygiene standards

•      Provide regular exercise, socialization, and enrichment activities in our 1-acre facility

•      Groom dogs including bathing, brushing, and basic nail trimming

•      Monitor animal behavior and report any concerns to supervisors

•      Assist with intake of new rescues including initial health assessments

•      Support QR collar ID registration for rescued pets

Community Engagement

•      Support weekend adoption events and interact professionally with potential adopters

•      Welcome visitors to our community space and educate them about animal welfare

•      Assist with our Feed A Friend campaign activities

•      Participate in mobile hospital outreach programs (Blue Cross collaboration)

•      Help document rescue stories and rehabilitation journeys for our digital platform

QualificationsRequired

•      High school diploma or equivalent

•      Minimum 1-2 years of experience working with animals (veterinary clinic, shelter, or rescue environment preferred)

•      Basic understanding of animal health, behavior, and welfare

•      Ability to handle Indian breeds (Indies) and dogs of various sizes and temperaments

•      Physical ability to lift up to 25 kg and stand for extended periods

•      Willingness to work weekends (adoption events), holidays, and flexible shifts

•      Strong communication skills in Hindi and basic English

•      Genuine passion for animal welfare and rescue work

Preferred

•      Certificate or diploma in Veterinary Assistance, Animal Husbandry, or related field

•      Experience with animal restraint and handling techniques

•      Knowledge of common canine diseases, vaccinations, and sterilization procedures

•      First aid certification for animals

•      Experience with street dog rescue and rehabilitation

•      Valid two-wheeler license (for emergency transport)

•      Comfort with technology (for digital record-keeping)
