The person will work on a variety of projects in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment. The person will be responsible for software development activities of KPMG, India. Part of the development team, he/she will work on the full life cycle of the process, develop code and unit testing. He/she will work closely with Technical Architect, Business Analyst, user interaction designers, and other software engineers to develop new product offerings and improve existing ones. Additionally, the person will ensure that all development practices are in compliance with KPMG’s best practices policies and procedures. This role requires quick ramp up on new technologies whenever required.
Responsibilities
Associate Director – Software Engineering (UI) Architecture
Location: Gurugram
Experience: 13 to 15 years
Role Summary
The Associate Director – Software Engineering Architecture will anchor enterprise-grade software architecture, platform engineering, and modern application development for large-scale customers. The role requires deep expertise in Java, microservices, cloud-native design, AI-driven development practices, and modern UI frameworks. A strong focus on architectural leadership, engineering excellence, and transformation in automotive/manufacturing landscapes is essential.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture & Technical Leadership
• Define and drive end-to-end architecture for enterprise-grade software systems using Java-based platforms, microservices, and cloud-native frameworks.
• Lead design and implementation of micro-frontends, React-based web applications, and scalable UI architectures.
• Architect distributed systems leveraging Kubernetes, containerization, and modern DevOps practices.
• Implement messaging architectures (Kafka, RabbitMQ, AWS SNS/SQS) for high-throughput, real-time systems.
• Integrate AI-driven capabilities into engineering lifecycle (code generation, test automation, predictive quality, instrumentation).
• Set engineering standards, coding patterns, reference architectures, and quality benchmarks.
Program Delivery
• Lead engineering teams through discovery, architecture, development, and deployment phases.
• Oversee implementation of large-scale digital transformation programs.
• Conduct architecture reviews, scalability assessments, and performance benchmarking.
• Collaborate with product owners, enterprise architects, and cross-functional global teams.
Client Engagement & Pre-Sales
• Lead proposal development, solution engineering, and technical storytelling during RFP/RFI cycles.
• Present solution architectures, roadmaps, and modernization strategies to senior client stakeholders.
• Engage in thought leadership, PoV creation, and new offering development in software engineering and platform modernization.
Technical Skills
• Strong expertise in Java/Spring Boot and microservices architecture.
• Experience with React, micro-frontend architectures, and frontend platform engineering.
• Hands-on expertise in Kubernetes, container orchestration, and cloud-native development.
• Strong understanding of event-driven and messaging systems (Kafka, MQTT, AMQP).
• Cloud architecture experience on AWS/Azure/GCP.
• Experience with AI-assisted development, CI/CD automation, DevSecOps, and performance engineering.
Industry Competencies
• Experience in automotive/manufacturing — connected vehicle platforms, digital factories, supply chain systems, telematics apps, or MES/PLM integrations.
Soft Skills
• Strong leadership, stakeholder management, executive communication.
• Ability to translate complex technical concepts into business-aligned solutions.
• Collaborative mindset, team mentorship, and ability to manage large engineering teams.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
