Qualification/ Personal Attributes
- Chartered Accountant, (CA) Inter, or equivalent professional qualification preferred
- Minimum 8 - 10 years of relevant experience in indirect taxation, preferably in manufacturing
- Strong understanding of GST, Customs, and other indirect tax laws
- Experience in handling audits, assessments, and litigation
- Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.)
- Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- GST Compliance & Advisory:
- Ensure timely and accurate filing of GST returns (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-9, etc.)
- Handle GST audits, assessments, and departmental inquiries
- Provide strategic advice on GST implications for business transactions
- Collaborate with IT and accounts function to find out opportunities for process improvements
- Handle statutory and internal auditors during audit cycles
- Customs, DGFT & Excise:
- Oversee import/export documentation and compliance with customs regulations
- Manage duty drawback claims and classification of goods under HSN codes
- Work towards obtaining EPCG certification and their redemption
- Tax Planning & Optimization:
- Identify opportunities for tax savings and process improvements
- Evaluate impact of legislative changes on business operations
- Litigation & Representation:
- Prepare responses to show-cause notices and represent the company before tax authorities
- Coordinate with external consultants and legal advisors for ongoing litigations
- Internal Controls & Systems:
- Collaborate with IT and finance teams to strengthen ERP tax modules
- Conduct periodic reviews of tax processes and documentation
