Job Title: Lead Power BI Developer

Job Overview: We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Lead Power BI Developer to join our team and lead the design, development, and deployment of interactive reports and dashboards using Power BI. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise and a leadership mindset to guide a team of developers, work closely with business analysts, and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver high-quality, data-driven insights. This role requires deep knowledge of Power BI, data modeling, ETL processes, and SQL, combined with the ability to mentor and support junior team members in driving impactful reporting solutions across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor a team of Power BI Developers in the design, development, and maintenance of Power BI reports, dashboards, and visualizations, ensuring alignment with business goals and priorities.
• Work with business users, product managers, and senior stakeholders to gather and translate business requirements into actionable Power BI solutions.
• Oversee the creation and optimization of data models to ensure high performance, scalability, and accurate reporting across multiple data sources (SQL Server, Oracle, Excel, etc.).
• Develop advanced DAX formulas and expressions for in-depth data analysis and reporting purposes.
• Take ownership of the ETL process, utilizing Power Query, SQL, and other tools to streamline data extraction, transformation, and loading for efficiency and accuracy.
• Collaborate closely with data engineers, database administrators, and IT teams to ensure smooth data integration and troubleshooting of data issues.
• Drive continuous improvements to reporting systems by recommending and implementing best practices in data visualization and Power BI features.
• Manage and prioritize the development of both standard and ad-hoc reports, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
• Conduct user training sessions, provide expert-level support for Power BI users, and assist with troubleshooting and resolving complex issues.
• Stay updated on the latest Power BI features and updates, ensuring the team leverages the most effective tools for data visualization.
• Promote the adoption of Power BI across the organization by demonstrating the value and capabilities of data-driven decision-making.
• Ensure compliance with data security and privacy standards in the development and distribution of Power BI reports and dashboards.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Analytics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Proven experience as a Power BI Developer, with a strong background in leading Power BI development teams.
• Extensive expertise in Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, and related technologies.
• Deep understanding of data modeling concepts, creating relationships, and optimizing Power BI data models for performance.
• Advanced proficiency in DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) for creating complex calculations, aggregations, and business logic.
• Expertise in Power Query for data transformation, cleaning, and automation.
• Strong SQL skills for data extraction and analysis from relational databases.
• Proven experience in designing user-friendly and impactful Power BI reports and dashboards that drive business decisions.
• Experience with integration of Power BI with other Microsoft technologies (Azure, Excel, etc.) and other BI tools.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to translate complex business requirements into effective technical solutions.
• Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills to guide both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Expertise in advanced Power BI features, including custom visuals, Power BI API, embedding, and automation.
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure) and their integration with Power BI.
• Power BI certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate) and other relevant certifications are a plus.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and leading development teams in an Agile environment.
• Knowledge of other BI tools (Tableau, Qlik, etc.) is a plus.
• Experience in managing and prioritizing multiple Power BI development projects in a fast-paced environment.
