Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Research Professional and Team Lead to join our Research team in Gurugram, India.  The Research Team Lead is a member of our global Knowledge Services team and is responsible for ensuring our Gurugram-based Researchers provide high quality data and information support for business development and client projects globally. 

The Research Team Lead will coordinate secondary research efforts for a team of 6-8 researchers to ensure that our service evolves with our internal client’s needs.  Our distinct approach is characterized by deep specialization and rigorous fact-based analysis. 

The Team Lead will be seasoned research professional capable of leading by example in a blended practitioner and leadership role. The Team Lead should be able to converse credibly and confidently as a thought partner with all levels. Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership Responsibilities

  • Manage a growing team of Researchers in Gurugram

  • Supervise the team’s workflow to ensure efficiency, quality, and client impact

  • Liaise with peer Research Managers on strategic global projects and to ensure global best practice sharing

  • Support team in conducting timely, accurate and cost-effective research that is synthesized for impact

  • Establish and assign goals to team members and evaluate their performance

  • Instil strong team commitment to professional development and the promotion of a continuous learning mindset

  • Responsible for coaching, mentoring, and developing career paths for direct reports

  • Recommend all HC actions for team members including staffing, pay changes, performance evaluations

Research Responsibilities

  • Work with a wide range of information tools and proprietary databases, providing both quick solutions and in-depth research for the business. Be able to think critically and develop the most efficient solutions

  • Synthesize information and glean key concepts and trends from the information, provide own point of view and basic insights in the deliverables.

  • Collaborate with consultants engaged in client service, business development or intellectual capital building by delivering highly relevant and well-synthesized research. Directly engage in strategic projects, together with our research specialists and consultants, contribute to updates and maintenance of customized knowledge products

  • Build expertise in Private Capital and Restructuring sectors, related topics and master tools and resources to support data analysis.

  • Use MS Office tools to produce graphical portrayal of research findings, customized to project needs

Experience Required

  • Experience supervising activities of a team of 6-8 staff members

  • Demonstrated research experience covering financial services in a business setting (7+ years) at a management consultancy, investment bank, asset manager, private equity firm, research specialist provider or financial technology firm preferred

  • Expert level knowledge of key FS research tools such as Bloomberg, S&P Capital IQ Pro, Eikon, Capital IQ or similar research tools/databases

Skills and Abilities

  • Experience leading teams, coaching colleagues, performance management, delivering quality feedback and managing compensation matters

  • Creative and inquisitive with tenacious drive to solve complex research challenges

  • Ability to effectively synthesize research, draw out key insights and provide basic data analysis 

  • Growth-mindset focused on continual client service enhancements and team development; strong commitment to drive positive impact to our business 

  • Stellar communication skills allowing you to interface confidently with stakeholders including firm leaders and peers

  • Collaborative approach (essential); demonstrated team-player who has experience working in and has enjoyed working as part of a global team

  • Demonstrated cross-cultural intelligence and inclusive behaviours

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
