Senior QA Automation Specialist

About the Role

Synechron is seeking an experienced QA Automation Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in automation frameworks, functional testing, and end-to-end quality engineering. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in Playwright, Selenium, and Java, along with strong exposure to API and database testing. You will work closely with development and QA teams in an Agile environment to ensure robust test automation, enhanced test coverage, and high-quality software delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Functional & Non-Functional Testing

• Perform Functional, System, System Integration, Regression, and Database Testing (SQL Server/Oracle).
• Execute cross-browser testing and ensure compatibility across platforms.
• Support both Front-end and Back-end testing in parallel across multiple releases.
• Work closely with distributed Scrum teams for sprint and release-level testing activities.

Automation Testing

• Design, develop, and maintain automation frameworks using Selenium, Java, BDD (Cucumber), Playwright (JavaScript), and other tools.
• Build scalable automation suites for UI, API, regression, and integration testing.
• Drive continuous improvement of test automation strategy and framework enhancements.

API Testing & Automation

• Perform API testing using Postman.
• Develop API automation using Rest Assured, Karate, or equivalent frameworks.
• Validate microservices by testing REST APIs, contract validations, and integrations.

Agile QA Collaboration

• Participate in Agile ceremonies (daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retro, demo).
• Collaborate with multiple Scrum teams during sprint and release cycles.
• Manage defects and track quality through Jira or other test management tools.

Required Skills & Experience

Core Testing Skills

• 6–8 years of experience in Functional and Automation Testing.
• Strong experience in:
  • System Testing
  • SIT & Regression Testing
  • Database Testing (SQL queries, stored procedures, schema validations)
  • Defect Management & Triage
• Experience in Banking / Investment Banking domain (Highly preferred).

Automation Expertise

• Minimum 5–8 years of experience in automation testing.
• Hands-on experience with:
  • Selenium + Java
  • BDD Cucumber
  • Playwright (JavaScript) or willingness to learn.
• Ability to design and maintain custom automation frameworks.

API & Microservices Testing

• 2–3 years of experience in API testing (Postman).
• Experience with API automation using Rest Assured, Karate etc.
• Microservices testing experience is an added advantage.

Tools & Platforms

• Strong knowledge of:
  • Jenkins / CI pipelines
  • Git
  • Maven
  • Test case management tools: Jira (Xray/Zephyr), HP QC, Rally, Confluence
• Understanding of DevOps fundamentals is a plus.

Soft Skills

• Excellent debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
• Ability to work in fast-paced Agile environments and manage multiple releases.
• Self-starter with ownership mindset and attention to detail.

Good to Have

• Experience with performance testing tools.
• Exposure to Cloud platforms.
• Understanding of containerised environments (Docker/Kubernetes).
